Mustangs blank CorningNathan HibbardStaff Writer Sebastian Irvin ran for 301 yards and four touchdowns, and passed for two more scores, to lead the Hoxie Mustangs to a 40-0 win at Corning Friday night. Irvin's first score came on a 34-yard run, which gave Hoxie a 6-0 lead with 4:58 to play in the first quarter. Hoxie broke the game open in the second quarter. Irvin scored on another 34-yard run, then passed to Joe Gage for the conversion to put the Mustangs up 14-0 with 9:12 to play in the period. The Mustangs next score came when Irvin passed 22 yards to Hunter Flippo with 5:55 left in the half. Irvin kicked the PAT for a 21-0 Hoxie lead. With less than a minute to play in the half, Irvin connected with Flippo again, this time for a 36-yard score to give the Mustangs a commanding 27-0 lead at halftime. Early in the third quarter, Irvin ran for a 71-yard touchdown, then kicked the extra point for a 34-0 Mustang lead. Hoxie's final points came on Irvin's fourth rushing touchdown, a 50-yard bolt with 4:44 remaining in the third period. Irvin finished with 301 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries. He completed five-of-13 pass attempts, for 72 yards and two scores. Tyler Clement added 61 yards rushing on 11 carries. Kenny Mashburn had three carries for 37 yards, and Cody Treadaway had eight yards on three carries. Mashburn had three receptions for 14 yards. Flippo caught two passes for 58 yards and two touchdowns. The Mustangs improved to 2-0 in 3A-3 conference play and 3-2 overall. Hoxie will host Earle for homecoming on Friday. The homecoming court will be announced at 7 p.m., with kickoff at 7:30.
