Lady Cats beat BayNathan HibbardStaff Writer The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats defeated Bay in 3A Northeast conference volleyball action Thursday at Sharum Gymnasium. Walnut Ridge won the senior high match in three games 25-22, 25-21, 25-12. Ashley Baker was 12-of-12 serving, and Amanda Emison had 14 digs. Beth Massey went 12-of-14 from the service line, with three aces. The win improved the Lady Bobcats to 4-3 in conference play and 5-4 overall. The Walnut Ridge junior high team swept a pair of games against Bay 25-11, 25-11. Caroline Kelley was 11-for-11 hitting, with six kills, and was 14-of-14 serving, with five aces. Anna Bland was nine-of-10 hitting, with three kills. Sabrina Knight had 10 assists.
Walnut Ridge traveled to Pocahontas on Sept. 13. The senior Lady Bobcats fell to the Lady Redskins 15-25, 20-25, 17-25. Walnut Ridge swept the junior high match 25-14, 25-9. Bland had three kills, and Kelley added two kills. Hannah Massey and Brooke Midgett each had one kill. Knight had six assists. Walnut Ridge won a junior B game 25-16. The seventh-grade teams split a match, with Pocahontas winning the first game 21-16, and Walnut Ridge taking the second 22-17.
