Races develop for
Races have developed in the Sept. 21 School Election for both the Walnut Ridge and Black Rock seats on the Lawrence County School Board.

Three candidates have filed for a seat for both schools. Carl A. "Cap" Phillips currently holds the seat for Walnut Ridge, and Pat Roby of Black Rock holds the seat for Black Rock.
- Those filing for the Walnut Ridge board seat, which is a five-year term, are: Phillips, Greg Gill and Cary G. Massey, all of Walnut Ridge. Those filing for the Black Rock board seat, which is a five-year term, are: Roby, Lloyd Clark of Powhatan and Matt Morse of Black Rock.
- Incumbent Michael Hart of Sedgwick is unopposed for re-election to a Hoxie position.
- Shane Dail of Ravenden has filed for a seat on the Sloan-Hendrix board. Bill Davis of Imboden, who has chosen not to seek re-election, currently holds the position.
- Strawberry resident Craig Whitmire is running unopposed for Zone 4 on the Hillcrest School District board. The position is currently held by Scotty Johnson of Saffell, who has chosen not to seek re-election.
