Hillcrest High School graduate Derek Wooten recently signed letters of intent to play basketball and baseball at Williams Baptist College. Local standout Derek Wooten has signed a letter of intent to play basketball and baseball for Williams Baptist College next season. Wooten is a 2010 graduate of Hillcrest High School.

In basketball, Wooten was All-State two years, All-Conference three years, All-NEA Tournament two years, All-WBC Tournament two years and All-State Tournament Team. He averaged 15 points and eight rebounds per game during his senior season.

In baseball, he was named All-State three years, All-Conference four years, an All-State Tournament Team All-Star and was a participant in the Extra Innings Classic All-Star game. Wooten plays guard in basketball and pitcher/shortstop in baseball.

He is the son of Kenny and Michealle Wooten of Lynn.

WBC competes in the American Midwest Conference of the NAIA.
