
County marks holiday

Lawrence County was host to several Independence Day festivities over the holiday weekend.
The 105th annual Portia Picnic was held at the Portia City Park Thursday through Saturday.
"We sold a lot of advance tickets for the picnic at City Hall," said Portia Mayor Sue Dry. "I feel like there was a good crowd every night, and I think it went really well."

Roacho fares well in MAOT
Ashley Roacho of Walnut Ridge made memories over the Fourth of July weekend that will last her and her family a lifetime. They were in Hot Springs where she competed for the title of Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen (MAOT) and exceeded the goal she had set for this year's pageant.

Filing period nearing
for school election
The filing period for board candidates in the annual school election will begin Friday, July 16, at noon and end the following Friday, July 23, at noon.

be available
Lawrence County will have Class IV dumpsters available next week, Monday through Saturday.
