BOOTHES ARE FARM FAMILY OF THE YEAR ~ Brothers Terry and Jeff Boothe of Walnut Ridge have been selected as the 2010 Lawrence County Farm Family of the Year. Their family includes (from left): Adam Boothe, Glenn and Edna Boothe, Jeff and Christy Boothe, Shane Boothe, Jessica Boothe, Kari Boothe and Terry and Vicki Boothe. Aldermen voted to approve two resolutions during a special meeting of the Hoxie City Council on Monday night.

WR's Roacho is MAOT contestant

Ashley Roacho of Walnut Ridge, the reigning Miss Northeast Arkansas Outstanding Teen, will be competing in the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen (MAOT) pageant at the Hot Springs Convention Center in Hot Springs today through Saturday. The winner at Hot Springs will go on to compete in Miss America's Outstanding Teen in Orlando, Fla., in August.

Airport and county club
work toward new lease

Both the Walnut Ridge Country Club members and the Walnut Ridge Airport Commission have been working diligently to come up with a lease for the 10 acres the clubhouse, swimming pool and tennis courts occupy. The Federal Aviation Administration has to approve any lease the airport can offer the club.
