Machine-pitch tourney heldThe Bombers defeated the Flyers 5-4 to claim the championship of the girls machine-pitch softball tournament on Friday at Stewart Park.
For the Bombers, Mackenzie Orrick had two hits and scored the winning run. Hannah Wade had a hit and scored a run. Abby Griffin had two hits and an RBI. Whitney Longmire, Madison Walton and Max Hibbs also had at-bats.
For the Flyers, Kaylie Littlejohn went 2-for-3 with a double. Laurel Gaither and Abby Guntharp each had a single and an RBI, and Hannah Wade had two RBIs. Allison Liles and Chloe Bounds also had at-bats.
The Sluggers defeated the Shockers 7-1 to earn third place in the tournament.
For the Sluggers, Claire Fisher batted 3-for-4 with a double. Rebekah Bryson had two hits and scored a run, and Misti Jo Sorg had a hit. Maci McCormic also had at-bats.
For the Shockers, Maci Smelser, Shala Stewart and Kenzie Worlow each had singles. Macy Penn got on base and had an RBI, and Emily Kern also batted.
The Flyers defeated the Shockers 13-4 in a first-round game on Thursday.
For the Flyers, Olivia Wilbanks went 3-for-3, including two home runs. Jamie Wilson batted 2-for-3 with a triple. Jarah Jones went 3-for-3 with a triple. Sarah Riggs and Darbie Hudson each had two hits with an RBI.
For the Shockers, Tamara Trinidad went 2-for-2 and scored two runs. Kaitlyn Henson had a single and scored a run. Kailey Blazer and Alexis Dalton each went 2-for-2 with a double. Bailey Ellison had a hit, and Destiny Adams had an at-bat.
In the other first-round contest, the Bombers edged the Sluggers 8-7.
For the Bombers, Emily Davis went 2-for-3 with a triple. Baylee Davis went 2-for-2 with a home run, and Lily Holsapple went 2-for-2 with a pair of triples.
Savannah Longmire and Kimberly Blair each had singles.
For the Sluggers, Brittney Underwood batted 4-for-4 with a double, while Baylee Rash went 3-for-4 and scored two runs. Shelby Snyder went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Katie Kersey had two hits, including a double.
