Club members work
to save clubhouse

On Monday afternoon several members of the Walnut Ridge County Club began the process of removing trees from the golf course area. The trees and other obstacles have caused the Walnut Ridge Airport to be out of compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations concerning safety zones on runway 18-36, which abuts the course.

Tompkins to retire from library

Ethel Tompkins will retire from the Lawrence County Library at the end of this month. For nearly 20 years Tompkins has helped students and researchers find answers to their questions.

JPs pass ordinance to ban 'K2'

The Lawrence County Quorum Court passed an ordinance prohibiting the possession, sale and offering for sale of the synthetic drug known as "Spice" or "K2" in their meeting last Monday.

Photo contest begins

The Times Dispatch's 19th "Summertime Photo Contest" is underway. The deadline for entry is July 16.

Housing authorities
to receive grants

According to U.S. Senators Blanche Lambert Lincoln and Mark Pryor and U.S. Representatives Marion Berry, Vic Snyder and Mike Ross, two Lawrence County housing authorities have been awarded grants by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under its Capital Fund program.
