Girls softball action recounted
Five games were played in the girls machine-pitch softball league last week at Stewart Park.
On Thursday, the Flyers defeated the Shockers 9-2.
Kailey Blazer, the Shockers' shortstop made an inning-ending double play in the top of the second by catching a popup and then tagging second base.
In the third inning, Flyers' first baseman Jarah Jones made a double play by catching a pop fly and tagging a runner.
For the Flyers, Sarah Riggs batted 3-for-3 with a double, and Darbie Hudson had a single.
For the Shockers, Kaitlyn Henson had a hit and an RBI, and Macy Penn added an RBI.
Also on Thursday, the Sluggers defeated the Bombers 7-3.
Maci McCormic, left-fielder for the Sluggers, ran down a ball and got it back to the pitcher, preventing more runs from scoring.
Misti Sorg had an RBI for the Sluggers, and Abby Griffin had a hit for the Bombers.
Three games were played on May 25.
The Flyers defeated the Sluggers 12-2.
For the Flyers, Olivia Wilbanks batted 3-for-3, including a triple. Hannah Wade went 2-for-2 and scored a run.
Brittney Underwood and Shelby Snyder each had two hits for the Sluggers.
The Bombers shut out the Shockers 5-0.
Bombers' pitcher Emily Davis recorded a double play to end the bottom of the first inning. MacKenzie Orrick, Hannah Walton, Madison Walton and Lily Holsapple each had two hits for the Bombers.
Destiny Adams and Shala Stewart each had one hit for the Shockers.
In a game with live pitching, the Storm defeated the Diamond Dolls 18-5.
Sarah Shimisaki of the Diamond Dolls had the game's only hit.
