A one-vehicle accident on Sunday in Sharp County resulted in the death of a Hoxie High School graduate and serious injuries to a Hoxie resident, according to Trooper Anthony Dail of the Arkansas State Police.
Cortney M. Cook, 27, of North Little Rock, was killed when the 2005 Jeep he was driving westbound on Highway 58 at approximately 6 a.m. failed to negotiate a curve.
The report states that the Jeep traveled into the oncoming traffic lane and then back into the westbound lane before overturning several times.
Gary W. Liscomb, 30, of Hoxie, a passenger in the Jeep, was ejected during the accident. He was transported to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis with serious injuries.

His father is a former superintendent of Hoxie School and former director of the Northeast Arkansas Educational Cooperative in Walnut Ridge, and his mother is a former Hoxie High School counselor.
