Intermodal Authority
receives GIF grant

The Northeast Arkansas Intermodal Authority Board met on Monday at Black River Technical College with exciting news for its members. The Authority has received a $180,000 General Improvement Grant from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission for possible topographic and boundary surveys for three industrial parks.

The funds were applied for through the city of Pocahontas and came from the House and Senate members of the 87th Arkansas General Assembly for Regional Economic Development.

WR museum receives grant

The Wings of Honor Museum in Walnut Ridge has been awarded a $30,680 grant to expand its aviation cadet display from the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. The museum is dedicated to preserving the history of the Walnut Ridge Army Flying School and those who trained, worked and lived there during World War II.

Early voting set to begin for run-offs

Two local races and five state races will be decided in run-off elections to be held on June 8.

Charity run benefits children's shelter

Cox Kawasaki recently held its second annual Charity Poker Run to benefit The Children's Shelter in Walnut Ridge.
