The Walnut Ridge Farmers Market is set to open for the season on Saturday.
The market, which is sponsored by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, will be held each Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon in downtown Walnut Ridge in the parking lot adjacent to Wolf's Taekwondo.
Mel Fender, manager for the market, said booths are free again this year. She encourages local gardeners to take advantage of the market to sell extra produce they may have.
Individuals can sell out of their truck beds or bring tables to display their produce. Fender said produce available this weekend will include new potatoes, greens, carrots, lettuce, green onions and radishes. She said they also expect to have some vegetable plants for sale, as well as marigolds and possibly herbs.
"We invite area residents to come out and support the Walnut Ridge Farmers Market and get some good locally-grown produce," she said.
Organizers invite area musicians to do acoustic performances on the courthouse steps while the market is open. There is limited parking at the market, but those planning to shop at the market, or listen to music when available, can also park at the courthouse.
