Hillcrest teams beat ICCNathan HibbardStaff Writer Hillcrest teams earned a pair of victories on the diamond over Izard County Consolidated last week. On Thursday, the Hillcrest softball team defeated ICC 5-1 at Lynn. Samantha Blevins allowed the Lady Cougars only three hits and registered 12 strikeouts to the pitching win. At the plate, Sarah Saffell had a hit and two RBIs. Kayla McBride had two hits and an RBI, and Kellie Beasley had a triple and an RBI. The Lady Screamin' Eagles improved to 5-0 in 1A-2 conference play and 14-5 overall.
Dylan Wooten limited ICC to just one hit, as the Hillcrest baseball team edged the Cougars 2-1 on April 14. ICC was leading 1-0 with two outs in the fourth inning, when Hillcrest's Cray Howard delivered a two-run hit to give the Eagles the lead. Howard and Tyler Parker each finished with two hits. Wooten also recorded 10 strikeouts, while pitching a seven-inning complete game.
