Bobcats beat Valley View
Zach Carson had four hits, including a three-run homer, to lead the Walnut Ridge Bobcats past Valley View 8-7 in high school baseball on Thursday at Stewart Park. It was just the second loss of the season for the Blazers.
Also for Walnut Ridge, Heath Kennedy had three hits, including the game-winner, and two RBIs. Chris Dickson and Logan Gaither had two hits apiece.
On the mound, Bennett Dudley pitched all seven innings to earn the win.
The Walnut Ridge bats came alive late, as the Bobcats rallied for 10 runs in the final two innings to defeat Midland 13-9 on April 14 at Pleasant Plains.
Midland led 4-3 after five innings before the Bobcats scored six runs in the sixth inning and four in the seventh to take a 13-4 lead. Walnut Ridge then withstood a Midland comeback attempt, as the Mustangs scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Teague Phillips and Luke Holloway each recorded three hits and three RBIs, and Gaither also had three hits. Eric Wilcoxson, Dudley and Dickson all had two hits apiece.
On the mound, Curtis Jackson registered eight strikeouts to earn the complete-game win.
The win kept the Bobcats perfect in 2A-2 conference play at 9-0.
The Walnut Ridge offense exploded for 12 runs in the sixth inning to defeat Buffalo Island Central 14-9 on April 13 at Walnut Ridge.
BIC led 9-2 before Dudley connected on a grand slam to start the Bobcats' rally.
Dudley, Wilcoxson, Dickson and Kennedy each finished with two hits.
Range Weeks earned the pitching win.
The Bobcats visited Class 4A Trumann on Friday, dropping a 5-4 decision to the Wildcats.
