Imboden considered Class 4The town of Imboden received notification on March 23 that the town's Public Protection Classification would be considered a Class 4, within city limits, according to the Insurance Services Office, Inc.
Imboden and the volunteer fire department have worked on lowering the town's classification since 1990.
The classification was lowered from Class 8 to Class 7 in March of 1993 and in March of 2000 was lowered from a Class 7 to a Class 5.
Imboden is one of the smallest populated towns in Arkansas with a Class 4 rating, which is the same rating as Walnut Ridge and Pocahontas.
The rating was achieved through a combined effort of Imboden Mayor Gene Dearen, the Imboden City Council, the Imboden Water and Sewer Department and members of the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department.
Individual insurance rates based on the classification will be different from each insurance company but will be lowered for all properties within the city limits.
