BAPTIST EGG HUNT SUCCESS ~ Twins Emma (left) and Cailin Jones participate in a 1,000 Easter egg hunt on Saturday at the Hoxie football field. More than 148 participants attended the event hosted by the Hoxie Baptist Church. Four bikes were given away, and winners included Bella Brady, Stormy Jones, Rhiannon Whitlow and Lacy VanWinkle. The bikes were provided by Black River Baptist Association, the Hoxie First Baptist Church and by an anonymous member of the church. The church plans to make the hunt an annual event and will hide 2,500 eggs next year. Emma and Cailin are the daughters of Ryan and Andrea Jones of Walnut Ridge.

Chamber hears update on LMHF project

Lila Floyd and Danny Gibson, co-chairs of the Lawrence Memorial Health Foundation's Golden Jubilee Capital Campaign, addressed the Lawrence County Chamber Board on Tuesday regarding the Foundation's project to renovate the patient wing of Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Accidents claim lives of residents

Two one-vehicle accidents over the past week resulted in the deaths of Lawrence County residents, Jerry Dewayne McLauglin, 52, of Hoxie and Cody Joe Johnson, 17, of Strawberry.
