Hillcrest boys earn victories

The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles kept Corning winless on the season, defeating the Bobcats 4-3 in high school baseball on March 16 at Corning.

Derek Wooten pitched the final 1-1/3 innings and struck out five to earn the win.

Offensively for the Eagles, Dylan Wooten had two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs, while Trevor Morgan also drove in two runs.

Hillcrest defeated the Highland Rebels 12-2 on March 15 at Strawberry.

Derek Wooten pitched the five-inning complete game, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out nine.

Dylan Wooten drove in two runs and scored twice. Billy Brannon hit a two-run home run, and Morgan had a two-run double.
