Alicia to be connected
to water line system

Alicia Mayor Beth Reynolds reported to The Times Dispatch on Monday that Crist Engineers will connect Alicia to the new water line system that was recently laid by BRB Contractors of Topeka, Kans.

The new pipe system is being constructed by the Northeast Arkansas Public Water Authority.

The connection will be made tonight so residents' water service should not be interrupted.

"This is a long awaited thing," said Mayor Reynolds.

Alicia has been through several boil orders recently due to equipment failure and water contamination.

The town will be able to receive water from the Lawrence County Regional Water District through the lines until the new water authority's plant is completed at Black Rock.

The authority will use water from the Spring River, which will be treated at the Black Rock facility and then piped to the individual distribution centers.

Once in operation, the NEA Public Water Authority will provide water to the LCRWD, as well as the towns of Alicia, Sedgwick, Hoxie and Walnut Ridge.
