Parrish named Miss MustangLeslee Parrish was crowned as the 2010 Miss Mustang during Hoxie High School's annual pageant, which was held Saturday, March 13, at the Walnut Ridge Community Center.Sixteen girls competed in the pageant, which was sponsored by the Hoxie High School Band. Carolyn Fowler directed the pageant. Parrish is the daughter of Shawn Parrish and Angie Parrish, both of Hoxie. She represented the Beta Club and was crowned by her sister, Whitlee Parrish, the 2009 Miss Mustang. Hannah Moore, who represented Future Career Community Leaders of America, was named first runner-up. She also tied for the talent award for her dance performance to "These Boots Are Made For Walking." She is the daughter of Clarence and Sherry Moore of Walnut Ridge. Amanda Simmons, daughter of Ben Simmons and Annette Eubanks, both of Pocahontas, was named second runner-up and tied for the talent award for her vocal performance, "I Wanna Hold Your Hand." Courtney Jones received third runner-up and the people's choice award. She represented the senior class and is the daughter of Melynda Lawson of Pocahontas. Fourth runner-up was awarded to Kayla Ward who represented the junior high ladies basketball team. She is the daughter of James and Shannon Ward of Hoxie. Miss Congeniality was awarded to Chasity Becker who is the daughter of Sheila Whitley of Sedgwick. Becker represented FFA.
