Lady Cats open season with win

The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats opened the 2010 softball season with an exciting 4-3 win over Rector on March 8 at Walnut Ridge.

Josie Wagoner singled home Alivia Hackworth with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Staci Spargo started in the circle for Walnut Ridge, allowing two earned wins on one hit, while striking out seven. Hackworth pitched the final three innings, allowing one hit and striking out four batters to earn the win.

At the plate for the Lady Cats, Wagoner batted 2-for-4. Hackworth went 1-for-3 and scored two runs, and Spargo batted 1-for-3. Ashlyn Cothern and Ashton Lawson each scored a run.
