County to receive
community grants
Community enhancement grants have recently been awarded to several towns and organizations in Lawrence County.
"These are very worthwhile projects and I am delighted that their applications for funding were successful," said Senator Robert Thompson of Paragould.
Community grants for $20,000 were awarded to The Children's Shelter in Walnut Ridge, which will purchase a surveillance system, a dishwasher, a stove and energy-efficient windows with the funds and to the Clover Bend Community for restoration efforts on the historic school gymnasium.
The town of Ravenden also received $8,300 to build restrooms in the city park, and Smithville received $1,067 for record-keeping and printing equipment.
Thompson also announced that the Lawrence County Fair Association has been awarded $12,000 from the County Fair Grant Program, which is administered by the state Department of Rural Services.
