The Wonderview Daredevils defeated Hillcrest 48-40 in the semifinals of the Class 1A State Basketball Tournament Saturday afternoon at Lynn.

Hillcrest led 11-9 at the end of the first quarter, but a 16-6 second-quarter advantage gave the Daredevils a 25-17 lead at halftime.

Wonderview extended its lead to 34-24 late in the third quarter, but a three-point play from Logan Spray brought Hillcrest to within 34-27 at the end of the period.

The Eagles continued to cut into Wonderview's lead in the fourth quarter. Spray converted a three-point play and Derek Wooten hit a three-pointer to bring Hillcrest to within 37-35 with 5:46 to play. Two points would be as close as Hillcrest would get, thanks to Wonderview's clutch free-throw shooting in the closing minutes.

Derek Wooten scored 14 points, and Trevor Morgan finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds for Hillcrest.

The Screamin' Eagles conclude the season with a record of 25 wins and 12 losses.
