Hoxie girls fall to Colts in tourneyNathan HibbardStaff Writer Rivercrest's Tyesha Byrd scored 25 points in leading the Lady Colts past Hoxie 47-46 in the 3A-3 District Basketball Tournament Feb. 17 at Earle. Rivercrest jumped out to a 13-5 lead in the first quarter, but Hoxie came back in the second period to lead 21-18 at halftime and continued to lead 33-30 after three quarters. Cayley Rosson led the Lady Mustangs with 18 points and nine rebounds. Tanya Sisco finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Kelsey Lewis scored seven points, and Autumn Nelson had three. Neely Ragsdell and Karina Mashburn each had two points.
The Lady Mustangs opened play in the tournament with a 46-31 victory over the Piggott Lady Mohawks on Feb. 15. Hoxie led 10-8 after one quarter, 19-14 at halftime and 28-20 after three quarters. Sisco led Hoxie with 16 points and five rebounds. Mashburn and Rosson each scored nine points. Ragsdell had five points, and Nelson added three. Leslee Parrish and Alyssa McConnell each scored two points.
