The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles won the title in the senior girls division of the Lawrence County Tournament. Hillcrest girls are
senior high champs

The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles defeated Hoxie's Lady Mustangs 56-47 in the senior high girls championship game of the Lawrence County Tournament on Feb. 5 at Black Rock.

Hoxie jumped out to a 15-10 first-quarter lead, but the Lady Eagles went on a 19-9 run in the second quarter to move into a 29-24 halftime advantage and led 41-39 after three quarters.

For Hillcrest, Tamara Evans recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Natalie Johnson finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Samantha Blevins had 11 points. Mackenzie Nunnally scored eight points, Miranda Doyle had seven, and Katelyn Hammock added three.

Tanya Sisco scored 17 points for the Lady Mustangs. Autumn Nelson finished with eight points, and Chasity Becker had seven. Karina Mashburn had four points. Alyssa McConnell, Neely Ragsdell and Kelsey Lewis scored three points apiece, and Cayley Rosson had two points.
