Matthews to seek re-election

Farrah Matthews has announced that she will be seeking a sixth term as Lawrence County assessor.

Matthews was an appraiser in the Assessor's office for five years prior to being elected as the county assessor in 2000.

She has earned the highest national designation (CAE) as an ad valorem tax appraiser. She is a member of both the Arkansas Assessor's Association and the International Association of Assessing Officers.

Matthews is also currently serving as a board member representing 26 counties with the Arkansas Assessor's Association and as vice president of the Arkansas Chapter of the International Association of Assessing Officers.

"I have undertaken the duties of my office in an honest and professional manner and wish to continue serving as your assessor," she said. "I maintain an 'open door' policy.

"The residents of Lawrence County should continue to feel free to contact me for any questions regarding homestead credit benefits or real estate and personal property assessment."

Matthews resides in Walnut Ridge and has a daughter, Madison.
