County tourney titles awarded

The finals of the 2010 Lawrence County Basketball Tournament took place last weekend at Black Rock, as six teams earned titles.

Friday

The Hoxie seventh-grade boys defeated Walnut Ridge 21-18 to earn the title.

Hoxie defeated Hillcrest 53-34 in the junior high boys final.

Hillcrest defeated Hoxie 56-47 to claim the senior girls title.

Saturday

In the seventh-grade girls final, Walnut Ridge defeated Hillcrest 16-12.

The Hillcrest junior high girls defeated Sloan-Hendrix 48-33.

Black Rock defeated Hoxie 65-62 in the senior boys final.

(Note: A special section on the Lawrence County Basketball Tournament had to be postponed due to the inclement weather. It will appear in next week's edition and will include full coverage of the tournament.)
