Lady Mustangs fall to
Manila, defeat Piggott

The Manila Lady Lions defeated Hoxie 52-46 in senior girls basketball Thursday night at Manila.

Manila led 12-7 after one quarter and 27-20 at halftime. Hoxie rallied to tie the game at 34-34 at the end of the third quarter, but the Lady Lions hit 12-of-13 free throws in the final period to hold off the Lady Mustangs.

Cayley Rosson led Hoxie with 13 points.

Piggott

Hoxie traveled to Piggott on Jan. 25 and defeated the Lady Mohawks 47-36 in 3A-3 conference action.

The Lady Mustangs led 13-7 after one quarter, 24-17 at halftime and 36-27 at the end of the third period.

Tanya Sisco had 21 points and 12 rebounds for Hoxie, while Rosson added 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Neely Ragsdell and Kelsey Lewis each had six points. Chasity Becker scored three points and Karina Mashburn added one.

Junior girls

Maddison Woodard scored 22 points to lead the Hoxie junior high girls to a 46-26 victory over Piggott.

Also for Hoxie, Krista Coffell scored eight points, and Brandy Alls had seven. Courtney Sears finished with six points, and Kayla Ward added three.
