BR falls to BayNathan Hibbard
The Black Rock Zebras hosted conference-leading Bay on Friday night, falling to the Yellowjackets 58-49 in senior boys basketball.
Bay held a one-point lead at halftime, 29-28, and led 41-37 after three quarters.
Joe Paul Carey led Black Rock with 15 points. Tadd Fore had 11 points and seven assists, and Hunter Horton added 10 points.
Black Rock fell to 7-2 in 1A-3 East conference play and 15-5 overall.
Bay's Lady Yellowjackets defeated Black Rock 62-55 in senior girls action.
Teri Aden led the Lady Zebras with 19 points and 23 rebounds. Amy Galbreath had 11 points, and Hailey Slusser finished with 10 points and seven assists.
Bay defeated Black Rock in a junior high boys contest 50-23.
The Zebras took to the road and earned a 66-49 conference win at Armorel on Jan. 12.
Black Rock got out to a fast start, leading 16-8 after one quarter. The Tigers came on strong in the second period to take a 29-27 halftime advantage. The Zebras rallied in the second half, outscoring Armorel 13-3 in the third quarter move back in front 40-32 heading into the final period.
Khris Foster led Black Rock with 22 points. Carey had 16 points, and Tyler Newell added 12.
The Armorel senior high girls defeated Black Rock 75-51.
Armorel led by only 23-21 after one quarter, but outscored Black Rock 27-14 in the second period to take a 50-35 lead at halftime. The Lady Tigers continued to pull away in the third quarter and led 68-42 heading into the final period.
Amy Galbreath led the Lady Zebras with 16 points. Hailey Slusser had 15 points, and Meagan Jones added 11.
