Andrew Derr, two, and Bethany Derr, three weeks, are the children of Michael and Amanda Derr of Hartsburg, Mo.
Grandparents are Gerald and Sheila Robinett Hurst of Hartsburg, Mo., and Terry and Mary Derr of Ashland, Ohio.
They are the great-grandchildren of William and Lou Robinett and Linda Hurst, all of Hoxie, Bob and Carolyn Allen of Hardy and Harold and Patricia Geracci of Ashland, Ohio.
Great-great-grandparents are D.B. and Exie Chastain of Piggott and Bill McCrory of Walnut Ridge.

As we have done in recent years, The TD staff selected the Top 10 stories for the previous year. Editor Gretchen Hunt reviewed the past 52 editions of 2009 to come up with a list of about 20 major stories.

Voting on these stories is often a struggle for us. What makes a story or event worthy of being in the top 10? We all have different points of view, and certainly, news events affect each of us to differing degrees. It is a very personal and subjective thing.
