Whitmire to lead Chamber Board

Lorra Whitmire of Clover Bend is the new chair of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Board. She led her first meeting on Tuesday, during which other officers for 2010 were elected.
The new officers are: Mike Montgomery, chair-elect; Adam Staples, vice chair; and Kari Shanks, executive committee member-at-large.
Whitmire also made committee appointments for the new year. They are as follows:

New Year brings
in winter weather
The new year brought with it a blast of subfreezing temperatures and winter precipitation. Monday saw school closings in the western part of the county with Hillcrest Schools, Imboden Area Charter School and Sloan-Hendrix Schools closed due to snow and ice on county roads.

Weeks receives honor
for years of dedication
ATF Martial Arts founder and chief instructor Fred Weeks, also known as "the Dragon," began instructing in 1972 after training for seven years in the Chuck Norris United Fighting Arts Federation. Since then, Weeks has met several influential leaders in the martial arts world and has impacted the lives of many.
