Hillcrest boys advance
to tourney quarterfinals
The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles earned two wins in the NEA Invitational Tournament at Jonesboro before falling to East Poinsett County 79-68 in the quarterfinals of the 1A-2A-3A division on Saturday.
The Eagles led at the end of the first quarter, only to see EPC take a 36-32 advantage into halftime. The Warriors extended their lead to 62-46 heading into the final period.
Dylan Wooten scored 19 points to lead Hillcrest. Derek Wooten had 18 points, and Trevor Morgan added 17.
EPC junior guard Ky Madden, one of the top players in the nation, led the Warriors with 38 points.

Local girls teams fare
well in NEA Tourney
The Manila Lady Lions used some clutch free throw shooting in the fourth quarter to hold off the Black Rock Lady Zebras 54-43 in the quarterfinals of NEA Invitational Tournament on Saturday at Jonesboro.
