Cats beat Melbourne

The Walnut Ridge Bobcats needed a fourth-quarter comeback to post a 54-46 victory over 2A-2 conference foe Melbourne in senior boys basketball on Dec. 15 at Walnut Ridge.

Walnut Ridge led 12-2 after the first quarter and 26-14 at halftime. Melbourne outscored the Cats 24-6 in the third quarter to take a 38-32 lead into the final period. The Bobcats dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring their visitors 22-8 in the period to take the win.

Bennett Dudley led Walnut Ridge with 21 points. Derek Medlock scored 16 points, and Chris Dickson added 13 for the Bobcats.

Senior girls

Melbourne's Lady Bearkatz defeated Walnut Ridge 61-45 in a senior girls contest.

Alivia Hackworth scored 17 points, and Daniel Vaughn added nine for the Lady Bobcats.
