Mustangs beat HarrisburgNathan Hibbard
The Hoxie Mustangs hosted the Harrisburg Hornets in 3A-3 conference basketball action on Friday.
Coy Yasler had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Hoxie senior high boys to a 69-58 win over the Hornets.
Hoxie led 17-16 at the end of the first quarter, 31-27 at halftime and 45-37 after three quarters.
Also for the Mustangs, Cade Crisler had 19 points, six assists and went 10-of-10 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Zach Crisler finished with 17 points, five assists and three steals. Devin Roberts had four points and six rebounds.
The senior Mustangs improved to 5-1 in conference play and 6-2 overall.
The Hoxie junior high boys jumped on the Hornets early and coasted to a 55-16 victory.
The junior Mustangs led 22-5 after one quarter, 33-7 at halftime and 51-9 at the end of the third period.
Jacob Defries led Hoxie with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Hayden Defries had 11 points and eight rebounds. Hunter Keeling scored eight points, and Hunter Flippo added six. Slade Sullens and Jake Ellis each scored five points.
The Harrisburg seventh-grade boys defeated Hoxie 29-17.
Tristan Privett scored 12 points, and Quinten Smith had four for Hoxie.
Hoxie defeated conference foe Piggott 67-55 on Dec. 14 at Hoxie.
Yasler led the Mustangs with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Cade Crisler had 17 points, six rebounds and five assists. Zach Crisler had 12 points, eight assists and four steals. Brad Harp scored six points, and Roberts finished with five points and five rebounds.
Jacob Defries scored 27 points to lead the Hoxie junior high boys to a 60-40 win over the Mohawks.
Sullens had 11 points for Hoxie. Hayden Defries added 10 points, and Dillion Cagle had six.
