Hoxie girls record winsNathan Hibbard
The Hoxie Lady Mustangs defeated Manila 45-37 in senior girls basketball Thursday at Hoxie.
Tanya Sisco led the Lady Mustangs with 13 points, and Neely Ragsdell had nine points and seven rebounds. Cayley Rosson had eight points and six rebounds, and Alyssa McConnell also added eight points. Kelsey Lewis scored four points, and Karina Mashburn added three.
The Lady Mustangs improved to 5-2 in 3A-3 conference play and 5-3 overall.
The Hoxie junior high girls edged Manila 37-35.
Krista Coffell scored 14 points, and Amanda Moskop had 10 for Hoxie. Sarah Manis, Brandy Alls and Courtney Sears each scored three points, and Kayla Ward added two. Courtney Rice had four rebounds.
Sisco scored 22 points, and Lewis added 17 to lead the Lady Mustangs to a 63-54 conference win over the Rivercrest Lady Colts on Dec. 8 at Hoxie.
Hoxie led 34-28 at halftime and 48-40 after three quarters.
Also for the Lady Mustangs, Rosson had eight points and six rebounds. Chasity Becker and Autumn Nelson scored six points apiece. McConnell and Ragsdell had two points each.
In junior girls action, Rivercrest defeated Hoxie 41-31.
Rivercrest led 9-6 at the end of the first quarter, 26-16 at halftime and 34-26 after three periods.
Coffell led Hoxie with 11 points. Ward had eight points, and Maddison Woodard added seven. Alls scored five points, and Rice grabbed seven rebounds.
McConnell scored 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, as the Lady Mustangs routed Piggott 55-21 on Dec. 7 at Hicks Gymnasium.
Hoxie led 16-6 after one quarter then took command of the contest in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Mohawks 22-8 in the period to take a 38-14 lead into halftime.
Sisco scored 15 points for Hoxie. Rosson finished with five points, while Ragsdell and Nelson each scored four points. Becker, Lewis and Mashburn each added three points, and Leslee Parrish scored two.
The Hoxie junior high girls also notched an easy win, defeating Piggott 46-22.
Moskop led the junior Lady Mustangs with 10 points. Woodard and Sears each scored seven points. Ward had six points, and Rice added five. Coffell scored four points, and Morgan Woodard added three. Alls and Manis scored two points each.
