Hillcrest girls post victoriesNathan HibbardStaff Writer A furious fourth-quarter rally lifted the Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles past Izard County Consolidated 67-66 in senior girls basketball Friday night at Brockwell. Hillcrest trailed 57-41 at the end of the third quarter before outscoring the Lady Cougars 26-9 in the final period to take the win. Miranda Doyle led the Lady Screamin' Eagles with 21 points, while Natalie Johnson added 13. Mackenzie Nunnally had 12 points, and Samantha Blevins added nine. Tamara Evans scored six points, Stevie Howard had four, and Kaylie Hammock added two.
The Lady Screamin' Eagles defeated Rural Special 50-37 Dec. 8 at Fox. Hillcrest led 31-23 at halftime. Samantha Blevins led Hillcrest with 15 points, while Johnson added 12. Tamara Evans scored seven points, and Katelyn Hammock had six. Makenzie Nunnally had five points, and Kellie Beasley added three. In junior girls action, Hillcrest defeated Rural Special 34-26. Lindsey Crews led Hillcrest with 17 points. Shea Durham, Stacy Maxwell and Natalie Glenn each had four points. Kathryn Tidwell scored three points, and Lacy Nunnally had two.
