BR boys win WBC
Walnut Ridge's John-Scott Kelley guards Black Rock's Khris Foster in the quarterfinals of the Williams Baptist College Invitational Tournament. The Zebras won the game, 50-40, and went on to win the tournament championship.

Black Rock's Tyler Newell sank a three-pointer from 30 feet away as time expired to lift the Zebras to a 42-41 victory over the Viola Longhorns in the championship game of the boys bracket of the Williams Baptist College Tournament on Saturday night.
Joe Paul Carey led Black Rock in scoring with 12 points. Newell finished with 10 points, and Hunter Horton scored nine points.
Black Rock improved to 10-3 on the season with the win.
Viola's Lady Longhorns edged the Pocahontas Lady Redskins 41-38 in the girls chamionship game.
Taylor Griggs led Viola with 15 points, while Madison Futrell scored 13 points to lead Pocahontas.
BR - Hillcrest boys
Black Rock earned its spot in the finals by slipping past the Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles 61-58 in the semifinals on Friday night.
Hillcrest held a 30-26 halftime advantage, but a strong third quarter by Black Rock lifted the Zebras into a 45-41 lead heading into the final period.
The Zebras were led by Tadd Fore with 23 points, which included seven three-pointers. Carey added 15 points for the Zebras.
Derek Wooten led Hillcrest with 26 points, while Trevor Morgan added 13.
The Viola and Pocahontas boys needed an overtime period to determine who would advance to the title game, with the Longhorns prevailing 51-48.
Jackson Raines led Viola with 16 points.
Matt Sullivan scored 22 points to lead the Redskins.
The Pocahontas Lady Redskins eliminated last year's girls champions, the Southside Lady Southerners, 54-36 in one semifinal contest.
Haley Tyler scored 13 points, and Olivia Bell added 11 for Pocahontas.
Haley Moore led Southside with 10 points.
The Viola Lady Longhorns defeated the Corning Lady Bobcats 57-45 in the other girls semifinal.
Leslie Barker led Viola with 18 points.
Corning was led by Whitney Groning's 13 points.
Viola - Hoxie boys
Viola defeated Hoxie 51-40 in boys quarterfinal action on Thursday.
Hoxie trailed 21-13 at halftime, but closed to within 33-28 after three quarters. Viola hit 17-of-20 free throws in the final period to seal the win.
For Hoxie, Zach Crisler had 13 points and five assists. Cade Crisler also scored 13 points, and Coy Yasler added eight points. Devin Roberts had six points and seven rebounds for the Mustangs.
Corning defeated the Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles 51-40 in a girls quarterfinal contest.
Makenzie Nunally had 18 points for the Lady Eagles.
Pocahontas edged Marmaduke 62-59 in another boys quarterfinal game.
Matt Sullivan had a game-high 21 points for the Redskins.
Morgan Hawley led Marmaduke with 16 points.
Viola's Lady Longhorns advanced with a 35-23 quarterfinal win over Marmaduke.
Michaela Thompson led Viola with 13 points.
BR - WR boys
After receiving a first-round bye, the Black Rock Zebras defeated the Walnut Ridge Bobcats 50-40 in a quarterfinal game on Dec. 1.
Carey had 15 points, and Newell added 12 for the Zebras.
Walnut Ridge was led by Derek Medlock's 15 points, while Bennett Dudley scored 12.
The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles advanced to the semifinals with a 61-55 victory over defending boys champion Riverside.
Trevor Morgan led Hillcrest with 17 points, while Dylan Wooten added 16. Derek Wooten scored 15 points. Logan Spray had 11 points, and Billy Brannon added two points.
The Black Rock Lady Zebras fell to Southside 66-56.
Teri Aden had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Black Rock. Amy Galbreath scored 15 points, while Hailey Slusser added 11 for the Lady Zebras.
Pocahontas eliminated the Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats 60-39 on Dec. 1.
Ashley Baker had a game-high 19 points for Walnut Ridge.
Hoxie - Maynard boys
The Hoxie Mustangs recorded a 59-56 opening-round win over the Maynard Tigers on Nov. 30.
Zach Crisler led the Mustangs with 27 points, six steals and five assists. Yasler finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Jeff Skudlark led Maynard with 25 points.
The Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds advanced with a 50-25 first-round win over Maynard.
The Pocahontas boys recorded a 70-54 first-round win over the Tuckerman Bulldogs.
Sullivan had 26 points for the Redskins.
