Hoxie boys teams
Coy Yasler had 36 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Hoxie Mustangs past Brookland 97-87 in senior boys basketball Nov. 24 at Hoxie.
Brookland started out hot, hitting four three-pointers in the first quarter to lead 22-15 at the end of the period and 52-48 at halftime.
Hoxie came on in the second half and moved into a 69-67 lead after three quarters.
Also for the Mustangs, Zach Crisler scored 17 points and had 11 assists, and Cade Crisler had 16 points. Devin Roberts finished with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Tyler Hall finished with six points and six rebounds, and Brad Harp added five points.
The Hoxie junior Mustangs also earned a win, defeating Brookland 51-41.
The contest was close throughout, with the teams tied at 7-7 after one quarter, and Brookland holding slim leads of 23-21 at halftime and 29-28 entering the fourth quarter.
The junior Mustangs finished strong, outscoring their visitors 23-12 in the final period to take the win.
Slade Sullens finished with 18 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, and 11 rebounds. Jacob Defries scored 16 points, and had 10 rebounds. Hayden Defries had nine points.
