Davis to run for state rep.Blaine Davis of Hoxie has officially announced his candidacy for state representative for District 73. His announcement states:
"I, Blaine Davis, would like to announce that I am running for state representative for District 73. I have been a Democrat since I was registered to vote and will be running on the Democratic ballot. For those of you who don't know me, I'm the son of Bill Davis and Coni Snapp.
"I have lived in Walnut Ridge and Hoxie since I graduated from U of A with my accounting degree in 1997. I married Nikki Fowler in 1998. We are the parents of two children of whom I am very proud. Our church home is the Walnut Ridge United Methodist Church where I was raised.
"That tells you where I came from, but not what kind of man I am today. For that let me say that the best way for me to describe myself is that I am a hard worker, intelligent and honest. Of course since I am running for office I don't expect you to believe my words about myself. I would expect you to ask your friends and neighbors about me. Feel free.
"I would encourage your involvement in any political process, especially in asking your friends and neighbors about local candidates. What you will hear is that I have helped coach my son's fourth-grade football team at Walnut Ridge, helped my church with our yearly fund-raiser and helped our local Walk of Hope for as long as it has been in existence.
"I have been working for local county officials doing computer work and making programs to help them streamline their offices. By going through the process to write these programs, I have learned a lot about how some of our county offices work.
"Because of these experiences, I have become more and more aware of how state legislation affects local and county governments. I look forward to finding out how this legislation affects other people as well. I am looking forward to learning more about the cares and concerns of the citizens of District 73. Please let me know any questions and concerns that you may have for me."
