Hoxie falls to ManilaNathan Hibbard
Manila's J.J. Helton drained six three-pointers in the third quarter to spark a second-half run that lifted the Lions to a 76-60 victory over Hoxie in the Mustangs' basketball season-opener on Friday night at Manila.
The game was tied 27-27 at halftime, before Manila outscored the Mustangs 28-16 in the third period to break the game open.
Cade Crisler led Hoxie with 19 points. Zach Crisler had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Coy Yasler had 14 points, and Devin Roberts pulled down 14 rebounds.
The Manila junior boys sank 11 three-pointers en route to defeating Hoxie 60-35.
The junior Lions were in control throughout, leading 18-8 after one quarter, 39-21 at halftime and 51-26 at the end of the third period.
Jacob Defries led Hoxie with 14 points, while Seth Hart and Hayden Defries each had six points.
The Manila seventh-grade boys defeated Hoxie 35-18.
Tristan Privett and Noah Adamson each scored six points for Hoxie.
