The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce heard a speech from Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel during its annual banquet on Nov. 3 at Williams Baptist College.
McDaniel, who is the youngest attorney general in the United States, spoke about his love of Lawrence County, as well as his love for and pride in the state of Arkansas.

JPs hear update on censusGary Underwood, partnership specialist of the U.S. Census Bureau, instructed the Lawrence County Quorum Court on the importance and particulars of the 2010 census. The census will be mailed in March 2010 and will contain only 10 questions for the head of household. If necessary, a second census will be sent, and then a census employee will visit, in an attempt to complete the questionnaire.
Walnut Ridge native at Fort HoodPvt. 2 Ryan Bounds, a 2008 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School who is stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, was on base Thursday when a fellow soldier entered the processing center and opened fire, killing 13 people and wounding 30 others. The incident has been called the worst soldier-on-soldier violence in U.S. military history.
