BR teams split with Turrell

The Black Rock senior high boys and girls basketball teams faced Turrell in the Joe V. Jones Classic at Monette on Thursday.

The Zebra boys fell to Turrell 55-38.

Joe Paul Carey led Black Rock with 16 points, and Tyler Newell added 13.

In senior girls action, Teri Aden scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Zebras to a 67-62 win. Amy Galbreath had 18 points, and Hailey Slusser added 16 for Black Rock.

The Black Rock teams opened the 2009-2010 season in the Norfork Classic on Oct. 20 at Norfork.

The senior boys defeated Cotter 69-44 behind a 21-point effort from Carey. Kris Foster had 11 points, and Tadd Fore added 10.

Amy Galbreath poured in 27 points to lead the Lady Zebras to a 52-42 win over Flippin.

Galbreath also had 10 rebounds. Teri Aden scored 10 points and pulled down a team-high 17 rebounds.
