Walnut Ridge's Bennett Dudley rushed for three touchdowns and passed for another as the Bobcats used a 24-point fourth quarter to break open a close game to defeat the Marked Tree Indians 32-8 at Marked Tree Friday night.

Marked Tree jumped out to an 8-0 lead with a touchdown and two-point conversion in the first quarter.

The Indians held the lead until Bennett Dudley hit Derek Medlock on a 20-yard touchdown pass with six seconds to play in the second quarter. Luke Holloway passed to Logan Gaither for the two-point conversion to tie the game at halftime.

After a scoreless third period, Walnut Ridge took the lead on a two-yard run by Dudley with 5:29 to play in the game. Dudley ran in the two-point conversion to give the Bobcats a 16-8 lead.

The Walnut Ridge defense held the Indians on downs deep in Marked Tree territory to set up the next Bobcat score. Dudley scored from two yards out with 2:57 to play. Gaither ran in the two-point conversion for a 24-8 Bobcat advantage.

The next Marked Tree possession ended with a fumble, which led to the Bobcats' final score. Dudley ran for his third touchdown of the evening, this time from four yards out, with just over a minute to play in the game. Gaither ran in the two-point conversion to set the final score.

The win improved Walnut Ridge to 4-1 in 2A-3 conference play and 4-2 overall.

"The kids came out in the second half and stayed focused in some bad weather to get the win," said Bobcat head coach Larry Treadway.

Dudley finished with 62 yards rushing on 18 carries.

On defense, Brian Archibald led the Bobcats with 18 tackles, and Dudley had 11. Tristan Fernandez had three fumble recoveries, and Shawn Seagraves had an interception.

Walnut Ridge will travel to Hughes for a non-conference game Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
