Dates set for local cleanupsLawrence County has Class IV dumpsters available this week, and several Lawrence County communities have announced dates for their fall cleanups.
Lawrence County has Class IV dumpsters available through Saturday for non-household waste such as appliances and furniture. Items such as tires, shingles and building materials will not be accepted. The dumpsters will be located at Bill Jones Wrecker Services in Powhatan and the Lawrence County shop on Highway 67, south of Hoxie. The dumpsters will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. though Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
The city of Black Rock will have a cleanup Friday and Saturday. Dumpsters will be located at the old ballpark.
Fall cleanup for the city of Hoxie is scheduled to begin Tuesday and continue through Friday, Oct. 23. Pickup will begin on the northwest side of Midway Road and move southwest toward the bypass. Once complete, cleanup will move to the southeast side of Midway Road and head northwest to the Brewer addition. Items should be separated into four categories, including metal, brush, wood and junk. All items must be ready for pickup beside the road. No return trips will be made. Items that cannot be picked up include tires, batteries, paint cans and chemical cans.
The city of Walnut Ridge will begin its fall cleanup on Monday. Employees will be picking up items curbside through Oct. 24. Crews will be picking up items from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to noon on the two Saturdays. Items such as tires, batteries, shingles and paint cans cannot be picked up.
