Gates wins runoff for Hoxie board

Wesley Gates has won election to the Hoxie School Board in a runoff held Tuesday. Gates received a vote of 167 (58 percent) compared to 123 (42 percent) for Jeffery Moskop.

In the Sept. 15 school election, four candidates were vying for a board seat that has been held for the last 10 years by Edgar "Coot" Smith, who chose not to seek re-election. Since none of the four candidates received over 50 percent of the vote, a runoff was necessar.

These results are unofficial but will be certified in the near future by members of the election commission.
