WRHS celebrating
football homecoming

This is football homecoming week at Walnut Ridge High School, and many activities are scheduled for the celebration. Homecoming royalty have also been announced.

Queen is Taylor Johnson, daughter of Patrick and Lisa Johnson; and maid of honor is ShayLee Lawhon, daughter of Gary and Janet Lawhon.

Other maids are senior maid, Alivia Hackworth, daughter of Jeff and Kelly Rider of Walnut Ridge and Steve Hackworth of Pocahontas; junior maid, Beth Massey, daughter of Cary and Raelyne Massey; sophomore maid, Jacquelynn Reeves, daughter of Jimmy and Julie Baker; and freshman maid, Holley Yates, daughter of Jeff and Kellie Yates.

Pages are Garrison Doyle, son of Dr. Terry and Susan Doyle, and Olivia Farmer, daughter of Jessica and Mark Light and Bryan Farmer.

The theme for homecoming is "Woodstock: 1 Night of Peace, Music and Football."

Friday night recognition

The Bobcat football teams of 1957, '58 and '59 will be honored prior to the Friday night game on Sexton Field. Honorees are asked to arrive at the high school's A.W. Rainwater Library at 5:45 p.m. The pregame lineup on the field will be held at 6:15 p.m. Presentation of homecoming royalty will begin at 6:30 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the Walnut Ridge Bobcat football team will face the Salem Greyhounds, coached by former Bobcat standout Sammy Weir.

Other events during the school day on Friday include the following:

  • 8:30 to 10 a.m. - Club/organization photos in the gym.

  • 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Power Puff Volleyball (boys play)

  • 11:30 - 1:20 Lawn Party with hot dogs and other food items, club fund-raisers, activities and games.

  • 1:40 p.m. - homecoming parade

  • 2 p.m. - presentation of homecoming royalty and pep rally on Sexton Field.
