Lady Cats sweep BayNathan HibbardStaff Writer The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats volleyball team traveled to Bay on Thursday and swept the Lady Yellowjackets 25-20, 25-15, 25-17. For Walnut Ridge, Josie Wagoner was 16-of-18 serving, with three aces, five kills and seven digs. Amanda Emison was 12-of-12, with four aces and seven kills. Emily Holder was 10-of-11 serving, with three aces and seven assists. Walnut Ridge improved to 4-5 on the season with the win. The junior Lady Bobcats also picked up a win, defeating Bay in three game 10-25, 26-24, 25-7. Ashlyn Cothern was 17-of-20 serving, with nine aces, six kills and two digs. Sabrina Knight served seven-for-seven, with one ace, five assists and one kill. Hannah Massey served eight-of-eight, with two aces and four digs. Caroline Kelley served eight-of-eight, with three aces, a kill and two digs. Raven Dobbs was nine-of-nine serving, with four aces. Anna Bland was nine-of-10 serving, with five aces, a kill and two digs. The win improved the junior Lady Cats' record to 5-4 on the season.
Walnut Ridge traveled to Cave City on Sept. 14. The senior high team swept the Cavewomen in three close games 26-24, 27-25, 28-26. Wagoner was 15-of-16 serving, with 10 digs, seven kills and four aces. Emison had eight kills and four digs. Daniel Vaughn had nine kills and two blocks. Ashley Baker was 12-of-14 serving, with two aces and eight digs. Regan Jean was 10-of-11 serving, with an ace, four kills and nine digs. The Walnut Ridge junior high team was also victorious, defeating Cave City 25-14, 25-15. Cothern was nine-of-10 serving, with five aces. Knight served 10-of-12, with three aces and two kills. Massey was eight-of-eight serving, with an ace and three digs.
