WRMS has five new teachers
Walnut Ridge's middle level school, which is part of the Lawrence County School District, has five new teachers for the 2009-10 school year.
Belinda Biggers of Walnut Ridge, former elementary school principal at Walnut Ridge, has returned to teaching and is serving as seventh-grade math teacher. A native of Herrin, Ill., she holds an associate's degree from Southern Baptist College and bachelor's and master's degrees from Arkansas State University. She has previously taught at Tuckerman, Gurdon and Walnut Ridge. She and her husband, Freddie Biggers Jr., have two children, Leigh Patterson of Little Rock and Mark Biggers of Walnut Ridge.
Penny Sloan, a native of Walnut Ridge, is the new seventh and eighth-grade social studies teacher. She has a bachelor's degree from ASU and previously taught at Weiner Elementary. She and her husband, Clay Sloan, live in Walnut Ridge, and she has two children, Haley Osburn and Zack Osburn.
Janna Berry of Walnut Ridge is teaching fifth and sixth-grade social studies. She previously worked for 13 years at Westside Middle School, where she taught physical education, geography and world history. A native of Walnut Ridge, she earned her bachelor's degree from Williams Baptist College. She and her husband, Clint Berry, have two children, Drake Berry, who is in the fifth grade, and Holly Brett Berry, who is in kindergarten at Walnut Ridge's Ben R. Bush Elementary School.
Tracy Jared of Hardy is the new fifth and sixth-grade science teacher. A first-time teacher, she holds a bachelor's degree from WBC. A native of Hardy, she is married to George Jared and has a son, Austin, who is in the sixth grade, and a daughter, Megan, who is in the fourth grade.
Hollie Thielemier, a native of Walnut Ridge, is teaching fifth-grade math. She has a bachelor's degree from WBC and is a first-year teacher. She and her husband, Jeremy Thielemier, and daughter, Kodi Ann, live in Walnut Ridge.
