BR announces new teachers

Lawrence County School District's Black Rock campus has announced its new teachers for the 2009-10 school year.

Mitzi Manatt, a native of Corning, is teaching seventh and eighth grade math, algebra A and B and geometry. Manatt, who lives at Pocahontas, has a bachelor's degree in physical education from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

Garrod Huckaby of Hoxie is teaching high school science. Having previously taught at Williford, he holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Mississippi and a certification in life, earth and physical sciences. He is currently working on a master's degree from ASU. A native of Tupelo, Miss., he and his wife, Kim, have a 17-year-old son, Blake.

Dewana McIntosh is the new K-12 art teacher. A native of Ash Flat, she and her husband, Jacob McIntosh, live in Smithville. They have a son, Addison McIntosh, who is in the first grade. McIntosh previously taught at Success Achievement Academy and holds a bachelor's degree in art education from ASU.

Malessie Mosier of Powhatan is teaching physical education and serving as girls basketball and softball coach. A native of Hoxie, she has a bachelor's degree in physical education from ASU.
