First day school enrollment
numbers see slight decline

Countywide school enrollment is showing a slight decline with a total of 3,102 students enrolled on the first day of school. Last year's total was 3,112. Three schools showed an increase in students.

Hoxie saw an increase of 28 students with a total of 1,028 on the first day.

The Imboden Area Charter School also had an increase in enrollment with 71 students, an increase of 19 students over the previous year's total of 52.

Hillcrest saw a slight increase in enrollment figures this year with 442 students. This is two more than last year's first day figures.

First day enrollment in the Lawrence County School District showed a total of 1,050 students on both campuses. This number decreased by 36 students from the previous year's total of 1,086. Walnut Ridge had a first day enrollment of 758 while Black Rock had 292 students. Last year's figures were 782 for Walnut Ridge and 304 for Black Rock.

Sloan-Hendrix reported an enrollment of 511 down 23 students from last year's total of 534.

These are preliminary numbers and may fluctuate over the next few weeks.
