Fair begins Tuesday

The 85th annual Lawrence County Fair will begin Tuesday and continue through Aug. 22.

The fair will include a PRCA Rodeo, the annual Lawrence County Auto Show and a carnival. The midway will be provided by Star Amusement, with Thursday, Aug. 20, as armband night.

The fair will kick off with the horse halter class in the rodeo arena at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

The remainder of the schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, Aug. 19

9 a.m.-5 p.m. - livestock, poultry and field entries early check in.

3:30-4:30 p.m. - set up educational booths.

4:30-6 p.m. - check in entries in educational exhibit building and educational booths.

5 p.m. - set up commercial booths.

6 p.m. - carnival opens.

7 p.m. - gospel singing with ice cream social in gymnasium.

Thursday, Aug. 20

8 a.m.-noon - check in entries in educational exhibit building.

1 p.m. - judging in educational exhibit building opens.

5-8 p.m. - educational exhibit building opens.

6 p.m. - judging of hogs, lambs and goats.

6 p.m. - armband night. Advance armband, $12 at Citizens Bank, Iberiabank and Shelter Insurance.

6 p.m. - open cattle show. Entry fee $10 per entry.

7 p.m. - Colgate Country Showdown.

Friday, Aug. 21

10 a.m. - livestock judging.

Noon-8 p.m. - educational exhibit building open.

8 p.m. - rodeo, ladies goat milking, goat chase. (Rodeo admission, ages five and under, free; ages six-12, $5; and ages 13 and up, $10.)

Saturday, Aug. 22

9 a.m.-1 p.m. - auto show registration.

10 a.m.-3 p.m. - educational exhibit building open.

Noon - auto show judging.

Noon - livestock check out.

3 p.m. - auto show awards.

3:30-4:30 p.m. - educational exhibit building check out.

8 p.m. - rodeo, wild cow milking, calf scramble. (Rodeo admission, ages five and under, free; ages six-12, $5; and ages 13 and up, $10.)

Fair books are available at The Times Dispatch, The Lawrence County Extension Office, Hays and Harps, The Ozark Journal in Imboden and all banks throughout the county.

World famous rodeo clown to perform

Leon Coffee will be the featured clown at the PRCA Rodeo during the Lawrence County Fair.

Coffee is a member of the Rodeo Hall of Fame and was the clown of the year for the PRCA in 1983. He has been in the top three clowns for the past 25 years. He has performed in the National Finals Rodeo several times.
